BIS is the department for growth, supporting business by creating the conditions for success and helping people through learning and training to get on in life. BIS Legal, part of the Government Legal Service, is looking to recruit:

Lawyers who are, or have the capacity to become, highly successful advisory lawyers. A good working knowledge of EU law is desirable. You will be at the heart of the big issues, from enterprise, business innovation, regulation and competition, universities and further education, employment and skills, science and research, to domestic and international trade and inward investment. The legislation affects every UK citizen - you won’t just advise on law, you’ll create it.  The work is intellectually demanding and your role will offer real variety, credibility and autonomy.

Experienced criminal lawyers with the ability to manage a wide range of cases and undertake advocacy work. Working closely with our criminal and financial investigators, you will shape investigations and lead high quality prosecutions, particularly into insolvency related fraud. There are opportunities for advocacy in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, conducting preliminary hearings, sentencing and simple trials. The work is varied and interesting, dealing with a wide range of offences.

BIS is committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all its’ staff, regardless of ethnic origin, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability.

For further information please download and read the ‘Information for Candidates’ booklet from the vacancies page on the GLS website.
