TRAINER (ADVOCACY: LONDON-BASED)

Summary of the role

We are looking for a London-based trainer to lead the development, design and delivery of our advocacy and civil litigation courses. These include the core advocacy module, and various optional elective modules, on our Professional Skills Course; advocacy CPD; and various ad hoc requests for bespoke training courses from key law firm clients.

An experienced civil litigation practitioner, with Higher Rights of Audience in the civil courts, you will have the credibility and authority to win and maintain the confidence of course delegates, client firms, and freelance trainers. You will be an experienced trainer and course designer, with a sound understanding of the legal education and training market.

Working from home, you will be expected to deliver a minimum of 100 days of training each year, most of which will be in London You may occasionally be required to deliver training at venues outside London, for which reasonable and necessary travel and accommodation expenses will be paid.

In addition to delivering a high quality training experience, you will be expected to quality assure the content and delivery of our advocacy and civil litigation courses. This will include writing and updating course materials; reviewing and acting upon client feedback; ensuring consistency of delivery; marking assessments; and convening/attending assessment boards.

Reporting to the Head of Faculty, you will recruit and manage a sub-faculty of freelance trainers to deliver our advocacy and civil litigation courses.

You may also be required to contribute to tenders and pitches; and to produce material such as blog articles, and bite-sized on-line learning modules.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities

  • Full time role
  • Lead trainer on London-based advocacy and civil litigation courses
  • Quality assurance of and Programme Director for advocacy and civil litigation courses
  • Assisting the Head of Faculty with applications to accredit new and existing courses
  • Reviewing and acting upon client feedback
  • Writing, and updating course and assessment materials
  • Marking and quality assuring assessments
  • Convening and attending assessment boards
  • Recruiting and managing an Advocacy/Civil Litigation Sub-Faculty of freelance trainers
  • Working with the Head of Faculty to develop, implement and promote our learning ethos
  • Contributing to new product development, tenders and pitches when required
  • Writing blog articles, and bite-sized on-line learning modules
  • Assisting the Head of Faculty in dealing with appeals, reviews and complaints

The individual:

  • Experienced civil litigation practitioner, with Higher Rights of Audience in the civil courts
  • Accomplished trainer, comfortable working with a wide variety of delegates and firms
  • Innovative course designer, with some experience of designing on-line training solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage a pool of freelance trainers
  • Team player, who can work flexibly in supporting the Head of Faculty
  • Sound understanding of the legal education and training market
  • Good commercial sense

 

 

Package:

  • Competitive salary, reviewed annually, with discretionary bonus scheme + benefits
  • Annual leave of 25 days, rising to a maximum of 28 (after 3 years)
