Assistant Solicitor – Abuse Team – Human Rights Department – Ref: AS/HR/AM

We are seeking a Newly Qualified to 3 year PQE Assistant Solicitor to work directly with the Partner who runs our Abuse Team, working primarily on cases of historic childhood sexual and physical abuse, but also on cases of current abuse in the community. The work involved will, at times, be highly challenging and intense. It will ideally suit a solicitor who has relevant experience in this area of law, is highly resilient and has sympathy with this particular client group. If you are passionate about this area of law, this is a new post, and creates the perfect opportunity you to join a vibrant and growing team who are committed to providing justice to individuals in the area of sexual and physical abuse.

Leigh Day is a specialist law firm with some of the country's leading personal injury, product liability, clinical negligence, employment and discrimination, international and human rights teams. We act exclusively for claimants, often highly vulnerable people/children, who've been injured or treated unlawfully by others. We are driven by our ethos of Davids” fighting the “Goliaths” around the world.

The post is suitable for a Solicitor who can work with minimal supervision on existing cases and build on the surge of client enquiries. The ideal candidate would have experience with delegating work to support staff. Experience in dealing with the media would be desirable.

This is a busy and demanding role and a high standard of commitment and performance is expected, with the ability to deal very sensitively and build trust and confidence with often highly vulnerable clients. The successful applicant will have a strong knowledge of law, excellent IT & research skills, good problem solving skills and be an effective communicator. Strong written & verbal skills are a must-have, together with the ability to manage in an efficient and timely manner. A demonstrated commitment to the type of work we do is essential.
