Residential Conveyancing Head of Department - Cornwall - To £45k

A Solicitor or Legal Executive with at least 5 years residential conveyancing experience is required for expanding multi office Cornwall & Devon law firm.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and successful South West based law firm and lead a team across all 6 offices.

Key tasks & Responsibilities:
• To actively contribute to the running of the firm and to its long term strategy, to create and be responsible for departmental plans and strategies.
• Supervise, appraise, train and develop any staff reporting and contribute to appraisals by others
• To organise and lead office and departmental meetings, leading by example with contributions made at and subsequent to such events
• To be part of the management team of the firm
• Perform fee earning work
• Ensure proper control of work in progress for all reporting staff
• Develop new work from existing clients and seek new clients for themselves and others. Develop and support marketing initiatives for each office.
• Maintain and nurture an appropriate network of contacts and referrers and endeavour to promote the firm

Skills & Experience required:
• To have been qualified for at least five years as a Solicitor or Legal Executive with residential conveyancing
• Good people skills
• Understanding financial aspects of case management and the organisation with particular emphasis on cash flow.
• Use and maintain IT skills appropriate to legal practice
• Prior experience as head of department beneficial, but not essential

Salary to £45k. Candidates already in Cornwall preferred, although applications from those serious about relocating, already with ties in the area, will be considered.
