Fitness to Practise Investigation and Development Lawyer
£40,872 - £52,317 per annum, depending on experience

Our purpose is to protect the public by regulating dental professionals in the UK. All dentists, dental nurses, dental technicians, clinical dental technicians, dental hygienists, dental therapists and orthodontic therapists must be registered with us to work in the UK.

We’re looking to recruit a lawyer to provide legal expertise and guidance in relation to the investigation and prosecution of concerns about registrants’ fitness to practise.  The lawyer will offer provide timely advice across a number of our fitness to practise teams to inform the direction of cases and to advise more generally in connection with the delivery of the GDC’s fitness to practise functions. 

As a qualified and practising solicitor or barrister with significant depth and breadth of experience in regulatory law, you will advise on a mixed portfolio of matters.  One moment you could be analysing complex issues to support caseworkers assess and investigate concerns about registrants’ fitness to practise, the next you might be preparing focused advice on novel issues arising in a case running to a hearing, and at the same time you could be working on a project interpreting changes to legislation or regulation and assessing its impact on the GDC’s statutory functions.  

The role requires a dynamic, versatile and confident lawyer with real interest and expertise in regulatory matters.
