Role Purpose/Summary:
 
Practical Law needs a qualified lawyer with in-depth and recent experience practising in the field of employment law, who has a high level of technical knowledge and a strong interest in writing and communicating the law and its practical implications. This role primarily involves answering questions received from subscribers and will report to the Head of the Employment practice area. 

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 


Working as part of the Practical Law Employment team to answer questions received from subscribers, and to help maintain and improve the existing content and to develop the product. 
Key Activities: 
The key activity of the role would be to respond to questions from subscribers. Other activities include: 
• Writing and publishing materials for Practical Law, in a timely and efficient manner. This could include practice notes, standard documents, checklists, legal updates and case reports. 
• Maintaining and improving existing materials so that they are well-written, up-to-date and reflect current market practice. 
Reviewing content written by other members of the Practical Law editorial team. 
• Developing relationships with third parties with a view to obtaining contributions and overseeing the process of outsourcing the production of some content to external law firms. 
• Developing strategies to ensure you keep up-to-date with the law and market developments and that the quality, scope and delivery of the content for which you are responsible meets business objectives and the needs of customers. 
• Attending employment law training events, conferences and talks. 
• Working with other Practical Law practice areas to produce cross-service materials and keep aware of developments in other services and the business generally and considering how they may affect Practical Law Employment. 
• Assisting in marketing of Practical Law Employment, including visits to existing and potential customers. 
Working on other projects as required. 
• Working with other members of the editorial team on delivery of the targets, liaising with sales, marketing, product management, technology and segment functions where necessary. 
 
 
Qualifications
 
 Mandatory Skills and Experience Required:
 
Technical Skills & Experience:

 • Significant recent experience as an employment lawyer, either in practice or as a PSL. 
• A high level of technical legal skill, with a broad knowledge of corporate law and practice. 
• An ability to carry out legal research within realistic timescales and to report findings clearly and concisely. 
•Good project management skills. 
• An ability to produce well-written, practical content efficiently. 
Interpersonal Skills:
 • A team player with a flexible approach. 
• Ability to communicate clearly, courteously and regularly. 
• Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with others across Thomson Reuters. 
• Strong commercial awareness. 
• Strong organisational skills. 
• Strong customer focus and the confidence to represent Practical Law Employment to customers at senior level. 

Desirable Skills and Experience:
 
• Presentation, networking and marketing skills. 
 
Education/Certifications Required:
 
• Education to degree level. 
• Professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister.
