Director of Prosecutions

Grade D 906 (£91,692 - £103,089)

The Isle of Man is seeking to recruit a Director of Prosecutions to work within the Attorney General’s Chambers to support Her Majesty’s Crown Officers by leading the Prosecution Team which undertakes nearly all criminal prosecutions within the jurisdiction.

The Attorney General’s Chambers is in the process of re-structuring to adopt a more sustainable and flexible multi-discipline model for the organisation, allowing it to absorb legal work that would previously have been outsourced.

Part of that model requires a Director of Prosecutions to undertake a key leadership role within Chambers to ensure that a quality service is provided and it continues to develop professionally a dedicated team of prosecutors to be able to cover the full range of casework required.

This is a permanent position which requires a Solicitor, Barrister or Advocate with at least 10 years PQE, 5 years’ experience of leading a legal team and substantial experience of conducting criminal prosecutions or defences in the higher Courts. As a senior civil servant they will also be required to provide sound impartial advice and build productive working relationships to support colleagues across Government in the modernisation of the criminal justice system. They will personally take responsibility for the most complex cases involving serious crime and support the team to develop their skills.

A defined benefit pension scheme is available to Isle of Man public servants. Please note a work permit and clear police check may be required for this position.

Further information is available and applications can be made through the website at: https://www.jobtrain.co.uk/iomgovjobs/displayjob.aspx?jobid=1634 or telephone Alice Martin, Chief Operating Officer, on +44 (0) 1624 685327 or email alice.martin@attgen.gov.im
