About the role

The diverse nature of the work we do provides ever-evolving challenges and a high level of autonomy for our Commercial Law team. Here, you will have the opportunity to own very interesting caseloads and to make your mark in a national organisation that promises a good work-life balance and great professional development.

You’ll provide risk-based advice on a diverse range of issues including public procurement law, intellectual property, EU funded projects, civil ligation, state aid and collaborative agreements. Responsibility, variety and challenge will be plentiful as you play an influential role in the team, ensuring standards are met in a client-focused manner.

About you
We require a fully qualified lawyer (solicitor, barrister or legal executive). You will be expected to have a solid track record of handling technical issues and negotiating and advising on commercial contracts in a public sector context. You will also need to demonstrate that you are confident and credible, able to combine first-class communication skills with strong analytical skills and an up-to-date knowledge of public law and regulation. We will need you to have a track record of influencing and persuading people at all levels and welcome applicants in other common law jurisdictions provided you are fully qualified in England and Wales. Some national travel is required for this role.

About the rewards
In return for your hard work, we offer a highly competitive package which includes a career average pension scheme, a commitment to flexible working and a wide range of other benefits. We believe the biggest reward of all is having the opportunity to make a real difference to the environment. We’re committed to continued professional development and we’ll encourage you to progress and expand expertise in our fast-paced environment.
