Chair
Police Misconduct Panels
In response to changes in legislation, from 2016 legally qualified chairs will replace police personnel on Police Misconduct Panels. These Panels preside over serious misconduct cases in what is an important aspect of the disciplinary rules that govern the police.
MOPAC are seeking to recruit up to 25 legally qualified Chairs who will be required to preside over 6-8 hearings per year, for the Metropolitan Police and occasionally for the City of London Police.
Applications are sought from qualified lawyers who can demonstrate integrity and independence of mind, commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, sound judgement and an objective approach to issues presented.
To apply you will have to complete security checks to ensure that you are suitable for appointment. Personnel under the direction and control of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner or the City of London Police Commissioner should not apply. You must satisfy the judicial-appointment eligibility condition on a 5-year basis, as set out in section 50 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007.
