Appointment of legally qualified Chairs to serve on 
Police Officer Misconduct Hearing Panels
Daily rate of £366 + expenses will be paid

In response to changes in legislation, from 2016 legally qualified Chairs will replace Police Chairs on Police Misconduct Panels. These Panels preside over serious misconduct cases in what is an important aspect of the disciplinary rules that govern the police.

The Avon & Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Police & Crime Commissioners are seeking to recruit up to 10 legally qualified Chairs who may each be required to preside over 8 – 10 hearings per year for the Avon & Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Constabularies.

Applications are sought from qualified lawyers who can demonstrate integrity and independence of mind, commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, analysis, sound judgement and an objective approach to issues presented.

To apply you will have to complete security checks to ensure that you are suitable for appointment. You must satisfy the judicial appointment eligibility condition on a 5-year basis as set out in section 50 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007.

Applicants are required to be resident in Avon & Somerset, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire.
