THE PUBLIC LAW PROJECT IS RECRUITING A PRACTICE MANAGER
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Practice Manager to join a unique legal charity based in Kings Cross. This role will be full time, but with the possibility of a part-time role as part of a job share arrangement. Salary £35K - £45K dependant on experience with generous pension package.

PLP (an independent, national, legal charity) aims to improve access to public law remedies for those facing poverty, discrimination or other disadvantage. We undertake research, policy initiatives, legally aided casework and training across public law areas. Our work is carried out by a small but specialised group of staff and volunteers supported by an expert Board of Trustees. We have worked hard to merit a reputation for high quality, creative and ground-breaking legal work.

We are now seeking an organised Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, finance, HR, recruitment, risk and compliance in addition to playing a key role in the strategic development of the charity. The new Practice Manager will work as part of a management team, reporting to the PLP Director and the Board of Trustees.

Undertaking multiple roles within the charity, the right candidate will be able to handle a diverse and challenging range of duties including:

•    Premises and operational management in accordance with all                    appropriate legislations and regulations
•    Preparing annual accounts and monthly management accounts
•    Maintaining client ledgers in line with SAR
•    General financial and budget management
•    Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the LAA, SRA, Lexcel,          Charities Commission, Companies House, ICO and other regulatory            bodies
•    Coordinating HR policies, procedures and practices
•    Managing recruitment and personnel files

The new Practice Manager will be self-motivated and able to maintain high levels of accuracy and to report at Board level.   Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels are essential. Relevant qualifications such as HR, accounting or legal management will be advantageous but not essential. Candidates with strong skills in some but not all areas may be considered on a part time basis as part of a job share arrangement.

The Public Law Project is based in London.  For an application pack please visit our website: http://www.publiclawproject.org.uk/practice-manager-opportunity , e-mail training@publiclawproject.org.uk or telephone Ade Lukes on  020 7843 1266. Deadline for applications is midnight Sunday 1 November. Interview dates will be held in the week commencing 9 November.  Please note that we will not respond to enquiries from recruitment agencies.

PLP is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from individuals with a disability whatever their impairment.  Applicants should note that our current building is located over four floors and regrettably has no lift facilities. If you have a disability which you think may interfere with your ability to do the job as described, please let us know and PLP will make reasonable adjustments both at interview and on appointment.

PLP is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity (No 1003342).
