We are looking to appoint to the post of Legal Services Team Leader (Adult and Children Social Care). This post will enhance the managerial capability of the legal services team in providing a high quality, professional and comprehensive legal service to the Council.

Reporting to the Legal Services Manager, the post will have management and leadership responsibility for the Adult and Child Social Services Team which comprises of four solicitor posts and one Legal Executive post.

Your primary duties will include undertaking legal case work as directed by the Legal Services Manager together with the supervision, consultation, instruction and direction of members of the Legal Adult and Child Social Services Team in co-ordinating and motivating the work of the team as directed by the Legal Services Manager.

You will be:
    •    A qualified Solicitor/Barrister with a current practising certificate
    •    A confident and experienced communicator and advocate
    •    A confident and professional manager
 

You will have:  
    •    Experience of Local Government legal work with particular emphasis on having an expert knowledge in the law of  Social Care relating to Children and Adults and general knowledge in two other areas of law relevant to local government practice such as  Family Law, Education , Housing,  Licensing, Employment, Environment Law, Contracts and Procurement and Property Law.
    •    Ability to manage and motivate staff within teams in support of the organisation’s corporate values and priorities
    •    Excellent written and oral communication skills
    •    Commitment to professional customer care and equal opportunities
    •    Good time management, case management and people management skills
    •    A pragmatic and flexible approach to legal problem solving
