Police Misconduct Panels – Legally Qualified Chairs (LQC’s)


From 1st January 2016 legally qualified chairs will replace police chairs on Police Misconduct Panels held under the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012.

Within the North Eastern Region, Police and Crime Commissioners for Northumbria, Durham, Cleveland, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside are seeking to recruit up to twenty legally qualified chairs to preside over hearings held in each of their police areas.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified lawyers who can demonstrate integrity, sound judgement, objectivity and a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusivity.

Applicants must satisfy the judicial appointment eligibility condition on a fi ve year basis as set out in Section 50 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007.

Appointments will be made on an initial five year term to chair hearings as and when required at a daily rate of £350, plus approved rates for preparation time and reasonable, approved expenses.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo security vetting and training.
