Job Details

Criminal Prosecuting Lawyer
ID 13761

The Law Officers of the Crown in Guernsey are seeking to recruit a criminal lawyer to join the existing criminal team. Working closely with the law enforcement agencies, you will provide advice across a wide range of criminal investigations, including drug trafficking and serious economic crime. You will be expected to prepare and prosecute criminal cases at all stages in the Bailiwick courts, including appeals, as well as assisting the Law Officers in the exercise of their powers under serious fraud, money laundering and drug trafficking legislation.

The successful candidate is likely to be professionally qualified as a barrister or a solicitor for at least three years, and have regularly appeared in criminal courts. Admittance to the Guernsey Bar will be required at the earliest opportunity. The post offers a highly competitive salary, commensurate with experience.

Guernsey, a self-governing British Crown Dependency in the English Channel, is an international finance centre with stunning coastal scenery and a quality lifestyle. The Law Officers provide a comprehensive range of legal services for the Crown, the States of Guernsey, the States of Alderney and the Chief Pleas of Sark.

We cover the costs for shortlisted candidates to be interviewed in Guernsey. If appointed, you will also benefit from a generous relocation package and a 15 year housing licence allowing both you, and a partner where applicable, to assume residence in Guernsey.

For more information on the position please contact Steve Langlois, Development & Administration Manager, St James Chambers, St Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 2PA on 01481 723355 or email: steve.langlois@gov.gg

Applications should be made at www.gov.gg/careers where you will find information on all job opportunities with the States of Guernsey.
