Chairman of the City of London Law Society
The City of London Law Society (CLLS) represents over 17,000 solicitors through individual and corporate membership. Sixty of the large global and national law firms in London are corporate members. Full details of the work of the CLLS, including the scope of our 17 specialist legal committees, can be found at http://www.citysolicitors.org.uk/index.phpoption=com_content&view=article&id=71&Itemid=464
Alasdair Douglas, the present Chairman of the CLLS, will soon be stepping down after more than five years in the part-time role. We wish to appoint a new Chairman to build on the impressive work of the CLLS and its specialist committees. The primary role of the Chairman is to work with the CLLS Committee and representatives of City firms to promote the interests of City solicitors and their clients nationally and internationally. The new Chairman will be assisted by a Chief Executive and a small secretariat. The Chairman of the CLLS is unremunerated; an allowance covers expenses.
The new Chairman will probably have senior leadership experience in a City law firm, and will be comfortable working with government ministers and officials, regulators, the press, and opinion formers in public life.
Please apply in writing with a brief CV, including email contact details, to David Hobart, CLLS Chief Executive, 4 College Hill, London EC4R 2RB by Friday 19 August 2016.
Applications will be treated in confidence.
Further details will be sent to interested applicants.
