Job Details
This is a chance to apply your innovative thinking skills and experience of regulatory and public law issues to solve complex problems in a large, successful organisation with an international reputation for innovation.
About us
A rich heritage. A strong commercial focus. An iconic brand. They all add up to make Transport for London (TfL) a unique public service – and a great place to develop your career.
This is an exciting time to become part of our vibrant in-house legal team and play an important part in helping to transform London advising TfL, the Greater London Authority, the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, the Old Oak and Park Royal Mayoral Development Corporation and the London Legacy Development Corporation. The sheer scale, variety and quality of our legal work offers a fantastic opportunity to handle high profile, technically challenging work, often in the public eye.
As an experienced lawyer, you’ll provide strategic, effective and business focussed advice on all areas of regulatory, public law and governance issues including statutory powers, the impact of legislation and preparation of new legislation, consultations, judicial reviews, health and safety law, other litigation and election matters. Other responsibilities range from supervising more junior members of the team, managing external legal support, advising on resilience including matters which may lead to risks to safety, operational risks, significant financial losses or reputational damage and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
You will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and influence others. You will have in-depth legal knowledge, a proactive and commercial approach and a track record of working both as part of a team and independently to handle a varied and busy workload.
Excellent benefits include:
• 30 days’ holiday plus public and bank holidays
• Final salary pension scheme
• Free Tube travel and travel concessions including discounted Eurostar travel
• Performance related pay
• Private medical benefit
