The Office of the Official Solicitor to the Senior Courts (an Arms Length Body of the Ministry of Justice)

Officials Solicitor’s Court of Protection: Healthcare and Welfare team: Grade 7 Lawyer (2 posts)
Working as part of a team of lawyers and lay case managers, you will handle a fast-moving and substantial caseload, and deal with enquiries from the judiciary, solicitors, barristers, other professionals and members of the public. You will also have the chance to act as an advocate where necessary.

To succeed in this challenging role, you will need sound knowledge of one or more of community care law, health and social care law, mental health law, human rights law or family law.  Experience in judicial review proceedings or medical ethics is preferable but not essential. 

Official Solicitor’s Court of Protection: Property and Affairs team: Grade 7 Lawyer
This busy and varied role will see you conducting litigation on behalf of the client in the Court of Protection. You will take on the full range of Property and Affairs cases, as well as cases from other teams where required.

Keen to build on or develop your experience in advocacy, you will bring a proven track record in private client work including the drafting of wills, deeds and settlements. Knowledge of tax mitigation estate planning will also be vital.

The roles demand a qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Court of Protections Rules and practice. Intellectually confident and highly motivated with the ability to work to demanding court-led timetables, you will bring strong IT skills and powerful communication skills.
