About the role
From leases and licenses to deeds of grants and disputed land ownership, our national Property legal team takes on a wide range of interesting cases. The diverse nature of the Environment Agency provides ever-evolving challenges and our organisational culture enables a good work-life balance and great professional development.

Joining us as a Lawyer in the Property team, you’ll make a key contribution to our work by delivering risk-based legal advice on a range of property issues. You’ll manage a diverse caseload, as well as dealing with the disposal and acquisition of freehold and leasehold interests, of both registered and unregistered property. Working closely with other members of the Property and Estate teams, you’ll ensure an excellent standard of support for clients.  There will also be rewarding opportunities to get involved with interesting Environment Agency projects, as our operations continue to grow and diversify.

About you
As a fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive, entitled to practise in England and Wales, you’ll be educated to degree level and ideally have experience of working in a property legal team, negotiating, drafting and advising on property transactions or projects relating to property matters. Confident and credible, you’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with other members of your team to respond effectively to our clients’ needs.  With a detail-conscious, highly organised approach to work, you’ll thrive on challenge and prioritise well which will enable you to manage your own caseload effectively.

About the rewards
In return for your hard work, we offer a highly competitive package which includes a career average pension scheme, a commitment to flexible working and a wide range of other benefits. We believe the biggest reward of all is having the opportunity to make a real difference to the environment. We’re committed to continued professional development and we’ll encourage you to progress and expand expertise in our fast-paced environment.

About us
The Environment Agency operates at the place where environmental change has its greatest impact on people’s lives. We work closely with a wide range of partners to make sure there is enough water for people and wildlife; reduce the risk of flooding; protect and improve air, land and water quality and apply environmental standards within which industry can operate.
