Head of Regulatory Management
Contract type   Permanent
Working pattern   Full time - flexible working may be considered
Working hours   35 hours per week
Location options:   Martin Lane - London

The SRA regulates more than 160,000 solicitors and around 10,400 organisations – the majority of the legal market. It is an organisation of 650 people that plays a critical role in ensuring consumer protection across a sector with a widespread impact on society and the economy. With an exciting programme of change both in terms of its regulatory model and its internal capability, the SRA is leading the way in responding to major changes in the legal market.

As the Head of the Regulatory Management team you will be responsible for proactive engagement with a dedicated team of Regulatory Managers with the largest law firms and organisations, principally in the City of London, many of which have a presence globally. The SRA is looking for someone who can provide leadership to the Regulatory Managers, ensuring they engage constructively with key individuals to understand the nature of their services and clients, what risks are emerging and how they are being managed. You will lead by example in a fast-moving environment, helping to shape the way legal services are regulated to the benefit of the public.

The SRA are looking for a leader who can motivate and develop a team, with experience of devising and implementing strategy effectively. The successful candidate will demonstrate credibility and gravitas with senior stakeholders, with the confidence to promote and challenge key external stakeholders. Prior experience in a legal profession is not essential, but candidates will bring a curiosity to understand the key legal and economics drivers in the sector.

For any questions about the role, please contact Saxton Bampfylde at QAFAM@saxbam.com.

To apply for this role, please go to https://lawsociety.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/appcentre-2/candidate/postings/705, where you will be asked to provide some brief contact and diversity monitoring details, and to upload a CV and cover letter summarising your proven ability related to the person and job specification.

The closing date for applications is 19 October 2016 at noon. The SRA is the independent regulator of solicitors and law firms in England and Wales, protecting consumers and supporting the rule of law and the administration of justice. We do this by overseeing all education and training requirements necessary to practise as a solicitor, licensing individuals and firms to practise, setting the standards of the profession and regulating and enforcing compliance against these standards.

We offer a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.
