Trainee Commercial Lawyer 
SCP 16-32  (£17,912 to £33,230)

We are also looking to recruit a Trainee Commercial Lawyer to work with the Principal Commercial Solicitor and two Commercial Lawyers to undertake a wide and varied caseload primarily in the following areas – contracts, procurements, construction and engineering, ICT projects etc.

You will be required to provide legal advice to client departments in writing and verbally, manage caseloads, take instructions from clients, attend meetings, conduct correspondence and primarily draft contract documentation in accordance with internal procedures. 

You must be confident, have effective communication skills, experience of working in a legal environment, experience of providing effective legal research, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and knowledge or experience in the interpretation of public procurement legislation

You must have or be working towards Law Degree or ILEX Level 3.

You must be enthusiastic, motivated, willing to learn and develop in other areas, determined to deliver results and be able to work as part of a busy team.

This post does not automatically provide for a Training Contract (as per the SRA Regulations) to be offered to the postholder.  However to progress to the latter stages of the salary scale (27-32) will require the postholder to have a Practising Certificate.  The decision to provide a Training Contract will be dependent on satisfactory performance and the number of Training Contracts being provided by Merseytravel at that time.  Consequently there is no guarantee of a Training Contract for this post.
