Chief Operating Officer

We are very passionate about what we do. We are looking for a Chief Operating Officer who shares our values and our passion to join our leadership team. It’s an exciting time here at the PDA. We are building on our successes and reshaping our organisation to seize the opportunities ahead. The Chief Operating Officer will play a crucial role in developing our organisation to take on the challenges of the next decade and beyond.

We recognised that pharmacists in the UK where now mainly working for the very large employers like the NHS or the multiples like Boots and Lloyds, and yet there was no organisation that represented solely their interests. In 2003, we established the Pharmacists’ Defence Association.

Our aim is to defend our members’ reputations in the event of a workplace conflict and also to develop the strategic policy agenda in a way that supports our members hopes and aspirations. We are passionate about our mission and we have already achieved many notable successes – but there is so much more to be done.

Now just 13 years later, we have more than 26,000 members representing 50% of all practicing pharmacists and every year we are growing.

With the imminent retirement of one of our founders, the opportunity exists to undertake a significant re-structure of the organisation so that it can take on the challenges of the next decade and beyond.

Our new Chief Operating Officer will not need to be a pharmacist, but will need to bring the unique skills of being an accomplished organisational operator who is able to lead department heads and inspire and manage the disparate parts of a growing organisation ensuring that the machinery is well oiled and working to best effect.
