Council Elections 2016

Do you want to be part of the voice of your profession? We’re looking for enthusiastic solicitors, from all types of practice, to stand for the Law Society’s Council. Council agrees major policy positions we take on matters affecting the profession. It signs off the annual business plan and budget, and the strategic direction of the Society’s work. Council meets seven days a year, though you will need to do some pre-reading.

Seats in four geographical constituencies and two non-geographical constituencies have become vacant and we’re running elections to fill them. The formal preliminary notice of these elections was published on the Law Society’s website on 10 November 2016.

A description of a Council member’s role and responsibilities, guidance notes for candidates (including information about the terms of office of the holders of the seats) and a nomination form are downloadable from our website at www.lawsociety.org.uk/councilelections 

The deadline for nominations is 5.00pm Monday 19 December 2016.
