Legal, Democratic & Strategy Services require a Solicitor to join their Legal Services’ Social Care Team. This post will be complementing the Team Leader, four Solicitor posts and the Legal Executive post within the team.
Your primary duties will involve providing legal advice and representation to the council as part of a Team covering adult care, child care, community care, education and anti-social behaviour. The focus of this role will be advising the Adult Social Care Department on Community Care and Mental Health Law.
You will be based in the Council’s Civic Centre which services the full legal requirements of this busy and changing Unitary Authority.

You will be:
•    A qualified Solicitor or soon to qualify Solicitor 
•    A confident communicator and skilled advocate 
•    A confident and discreet team worker 

You will have:
•    Experience of working as a solicitor with a good practical knowledge of The Care Act 2014, The Mental Capacity Act 2005 including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and knowledge of The Mental Health Acts.    
•    Experience or willingness to gain experience in Child Care, Child Protection, Education and, Anti Social Behaviour to support cross team working. 
•    Good organisation and time management skills. 
•    Good communication skills. 
•    Commitment to promoting the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable adults, children and young people. 
•    A pragmatic and flexible approach to legal problem solving. 
•    The ability to work with a variety of IT systems including time recording, case management and e-bundling. 
•    The confidence to suggest and identify service improvements and accept continuous change as part of the norm.
