Human Rights Adviser (SW1 & N4)
£34,693 p.a.
Prisoners Abroad is a unique welfare and human rights charity providing advice and emotional support to people affected by overseas imprisonment. We help people during their incarceration, when they return to the UK and need resettlement services, and we also support their family and friends throughout the trauma.
In this role, you will provide crucial advice to embassies, consulates and country caseworkers at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) on human rights issues affecting British nationals abroad, including claims of torture and cases where a British national could be or has been sentenced to death.
An outstanding communicator with an in-depth, comprehensive practical knowledge of human rights law (particularly relating to fair trials and prisoner rights), you must also hold a legal degree and preferably a formal qualification in human rights.
This post is based at the FCO with one day every fortnight at Prisoners Abroad.
This post is offered as a 2 year fixed term contract.
To apply for this position, please download the application form from our website http://www.prisonersabroad.org.uk/get-involved-overview/work-for-us/ and email it to jobs@prisonersabroad.org.uk or contact HR on 020 7561 6820 if you wish to discuss the role in more detail.
Closing date: Tuesday 4th April 12 noon
Interviews are scheduled for w/c 17th April
Second interviews are scheduled for w/c 25th April
