BSB:Senior Case Officer

£29,650 - 35,113 pa (depending on skill and experience) Plus a benefit allowance of £1,300 per annum

 
The Bar Standards Board (BSB) Investigations and Hearings team is responsible for investigating complaints against barristers, taking disciplinary or other action on behalf of the Professional Conduct Committee.
 
We would looking to appoint two full time roles, a Casework Manager and Senior Case Officer, for a qualified barrister, solicitor (or equivalent) within the team. Both roles will process a caseload including the most complex of cases and be responsible for case preparation including investigating complaints, drafting charges and reports, gathering evidence and preparing bundles, corresponding with barristers, complainants and witnesses. They will also be required to attend hearings and support counsel in the prosecution of cases and appeals before the High Court.
 
Experience of legal procedures or litigation and substantial experience of casework is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting other members of staff.  Knowledge of regulatory procedures and experience of working for a regulator is desirable but not essential.
 
 Applicants for both roles must be a qualified solicitor or barrister (or common law equivalent), entitled to practice and have excellent IT, communication and organizational skills.
