Bring your legal ability to a team that is securing the safety of the UK

Working as a lawyer for the intelligence agencies offers the opportunity to work on issues that are truly unique and provides great career development. Our work touches everything from cyber-attacks to advising at the cutting edge of technology. The legal teams work to ensure that the agencies have sound legal advice at every turn. And now you can join us – and make a substantial contribution to the well-being of the UK.

We are currently recruiting for three commercial lawyers to join our ranks. One role is in the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – a brand new centre that is part of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) and aims to make the UK the safest place in the world to live and do business online. Your advice will often combine commercial and public law issues as we seek to engage more closely with the private sector to protect the UK from cyber-attacks. The other two roles exist in a team that provides commercial advice to all three agencies: GCHQ, the Security Service (Mi5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). In these roles your advice will ensure that the UK remains safe from terrorism and threats to national security. As such, you will provide legal advice across a range of commercial issues from major projects, commercial security policies and sensitive procurements. Within all three roles you can expect a fast paced atmosphere where you are engaged on developing areas of law and meeting interesting people.

To make the most of these dynamic roles you will need to be a British Citizen and a qualified solicitor or barrister with at least five years’ experience. A talented lawyer with strong communication skills who is excited about the work of the team, you will need to be proficient in at least one of the following areas: commercial and contract law; public law with a commercial dimension; procurement law; intellectual property and technology law; cyber security law and/or commercial litigation (including ADR).

We are committed to diversity and we believe that talent thrives best in an inclusive environment. All three posts are open to individuals who wish to work flexibly.

If you meet these criteria then this is a unique opportunity and we would love to hear from you.

The post holder will be required to undergo security clearance to DV level.
