Composite Legal Expenses is a leading provider of legal expenses insurance in the UK and is now seeking to expand its specialist underwriting unit in Cardiff with two new appointments.

Assistant Underwriter

This role involves the underwriting of ‘After the Event’ (ATE) legal expenses insurance business, with particular emphasis on commercial risks. ATE insurance provides cover for litigants’ adverse costs and disbursements exposure in the event that cases are unsuccessful. The successful candidate will specialise in reviewing the legal and commercial merits of cases proposed for insurance. This will involve both desktop analysis as well as meeting with solicitors, barristers and litigants.

‘After the Event’ legal expenses insurance is an exciting area of business where Composite sees scope for significant growth. As well as their primary roles, the successful candidates will also be expected to participate in Composite’s wider business development and customer service objectives.

Key requirements for both roles:

• Degree and ideally a professional legal qualification
• Knowledge of the civil litigation process in England and Wales

Prior experience of the legal expenses insurance market would be an advantage. Any necessary training will be provided. Both roles offer  an excellent remuneration package.
