Job Details
My client, a leading utility company in the south is currently looking to recruit a lawyer with construction and engineering experience into their legal team. The company has three offices in Sussex where the central services are based. The one that the legal team is based in is accessible by train and car, with parking available.
Today the company supplies drinking water to roughly one million households through its 95 water supply works and 13,700 kilometres of water mains. Wastewater is treated by the company's network of 370 wastewater treatment works and almost 40,000 kilometres of sewers.
As a result there are a number of engineering and construction related matters that require attention from a legal perspective. This role will focus on Engineering and Construction - focusing on all aspects of non-contentious and contentious ECC matters. The work on offer for both roles is technically challenging but hugely rewarding.
On a daily basis this role will see you leading on commercial, high value projects and can expect to handle commercial / engineering and construction transactions as well as contractual negotiations on a day to day basis. You will be given autonomy and responsibility to handle your own workload and steer the direction of your area of expertise. You can also expect to handle ad hoc corporate governance, risk, compliance, procurement and IP matters.
You should be a qualified lawyer (Solicitor / Barrister / Chartered Legal Executive) with significant post-qualification experience engineering and construction law. A proactive, positive nature is essential, as is the ability towork as part of a team and to build relationships at all levels.
