Lawyer/Legal Executive - Community Services Law –Adults Social Care

Salary £36,623 to £48,808 (dependent upon experience)

Located in Huntingdon, Northampton, Bedfordshire (Shefford)

LGSS Law Ltd is an innovative social enterprise law firm providing legal services to the public and not for profit sector. We have grown significantly in recent years and in addition to our head office in Huntingdon, we have branch offices, in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire (Shefford) and Cambridge. We pride ourselves on giving high quality, comprehensive and affordable advice to our many clients, who include local authorities, health bodies, charities, schools and housing associations across the region.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Adult Health and Social Care Lawyer or Legal Executive to join our Community Services Law team.

You will provide pro-active advice and support to clients on their duties towards vulnerable adults and those with mental health or community care needs. The role offers a wide variety of work, ranging from deprivation of liberty safeguards, human rights law and Court of Protection applications to questions of ordinary residence or care and support assessments and eligibility.  You will also be advising on the Mental Health Act 1983 and the overlap between this and other legislation for vulnerable adults and their carers.  This sector has seen an increase to challenges by way of judicial review and advising on any such challenges will form a part of your day to day role.

Health and Social Care is going through a period of considerable change as it is becoming increasingly litigious.  Working for a range of clients within this area gives you greater exposure to complex and interesting cases.  This in turn will enable you to develop your experience within this sector at a quicker pace.  You will also be involved, as part of the team, to assist with the development of policies and strategies to enable us to deliver a more effective service to deal with the large volume of challenges that our clients are currently facing within this sector.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with initiative, a proactive approach to problem solving and a real commitment to the job. In return, we will enable you to work with friendly and supportive colleagues and develop your career in an excellent working environment. If the chance to play a part in this increasingly interesting but challenging area of law excites you, we want to hear from you.

For an informal discussion regarding the position please contact; Suzy Edge, Head of Community Services Law, Suzy.Edge@LGSSLaw.co.uk  Tel: 01223 699374 or Salma Kantharia, Principal Lawyer Salma.Kantharia@LGSSLaw.co.uk  Tel: 01604 361786

Closing date for applications extended to Tuesday 2nd May 2017 at 12 noon

Interviews will be held week commencing 1st May 2017
