An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Injury Claims Handler to join a law firm on a permanent basis in the West Yorkshire area. The client is looking for someone to join their Defendant EL/PL team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Dealing with a defendant EL/PL caseload
• Handling 250-300 pre-litigated files
• Dealing with opponents, experts, statutory bodies and client by e-mail, telephone and in writing
• Negotiating on issues of liability and quantum
• Assisting senior colleagues, if requested, with higher value claims
• Pursuing recovery of client's losses, where appropriate, from third parties
• Maintaining accurate financial / reserve / risk management information on all claims
• Liaising between clients and experts
• Preparing and filing court documents and legal forms

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Experience of handling an EL/PL caseload
• Defendant experience is desirable however the client will consider EL/PL candidates from a claimant background
