A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Head of IT Operations to join an established Legal firm based in Bristol. The firm has enjoyed high levels of growth & success in recent years which has allowed them to continue to develop their offices and bring in the best talent across the business.

Head of IT Operations - Key responsibilities:

* Drive continuing service improvement and cost reductions in BAU spend in order to invest in new capabilities and services
* Responsible for integrating technical knowledge and business knowledge to develop innovative solutions to automate operation activities
* Accountable for financial budgets for the delivery of products and services
* Lead the development of models for the improved provision of IT support/services which may include IT partnerships / IT outsourcing and regional/international variations
* Responsible for hosting, desktop & communications infrastructure and services
* Responsible IT Service Management / delivery and applications support

Head of IT Operations - Strategy:

* Understand the organisation's goals and objectives and how IT contributes to the delivery of competitive advantage
* Set strategy for management of all IT operations resources
* Maintain IT Operations roadmap, accountable for all upkeep and development of Group IT Systems.
* Collaborate with the wider IT organisation to assist the evolution of our long-term technology roadmaps and assist in the design of "end-to-end" solutions for client bids and contract awards


Head of IT Operations - Operations:

* Own and drive Incident / Major incident and problem management within the IT function
* Definition of key roles and responsibilities within the team
* Ensuring the effective delivery of services through tools, process, procedures and reporting
* Develop, Plan and manage staff and overall IT Operations to deliver IT services to an agreed and measured level
* Develop Operational service improvements within agreed budgets to improve operational efficiency
* Ensuring key stakeholders are managed / communicated with effectively
* Deliver technical change adapting and utilising appropriate project management frameworks
* Support business change initiatives as required
* Lead and contribute positively to senior management meetings
* Inspire creativity and flexibility in the management and application of IT
* Ensure the architecture, applications and process are monitored as appropriate, enhanced and fit for purpose to deliver company objectives
* Ensure compliance with the company change control and security procedures while driving forward information security awareness
* Ensure a smooth and efficient transition of projects from early life support (ELS) through to business as usual (BAU) in conjunction with the delivery teams

Head of IT Operations - Information Security:

* Ensure compliance with information security policies, standards and procedures in the day-to-day delivery of IT services including those that are IS27001 related.
* Support information security risk assessments by making resources available where appropriate
* Proactively identify and report security risks to the Information Security team
* Report actual and suspected security incidents to the Information Security team

Head of IT Operations - Expert in:

* Strong and proven experience of managing an IT support operation
* Experience in transforming business problems into delivery of IT solutions
* Able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of IT operational management standards & practices
* Knowledge of contract, licencing, and data privacy regulations/laws and best practices
* Driven with an emphasis on technology people leadership skills. Demonstrable capability to manage, motivate and develop teams of technical staff
* Good understanding of ITIL bases processes and procedures
* Articulates a clear direction and sets SMART objectives
* Anticipates problems and takes responsibility for resolution
* Plans workload to set and meet department objectives
* Regularly reviews performance, progress and manages expectations

Head of IT Operations - Personal competencies:

* Analytical with excellent budgeting, and cost-management skills
* Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
* Effective listener with the ability to apply the knowledge gained effectively
* Self-motivating and able to structure the work of others using own initiative
* Influences and persuades
* Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills
