permanent – starting salary £55,000 plus excellent benefits and the potential to progress to £65,000 within 18 months, depending on your performance

These roles are available on a full time and part time basis.

At the Financial Ombudsman Service we settle a wide range of disputes between financial businesses and their customers. We listen to both sides of the story and weigh up the facts, before reaching a fair outcome – thoughtfully and quickly.

As an ombudsman manager, you’ll lead a small team of investigators and be at the heart of what we do – helping them sort out financial services problems for our customers. By using your sound judgment and leadership skills, you’ll support your team in reaching answers that are fair and feel fair. And where this doesn’t resolve things, you’ll have the responsibility to make final decisions that are legally binding on both sides.

You’ll be used to weighing up relevant information and then making tough and fair decisions at a senior level – for example in law, business or in a policy environment. But most importantly you’re a natural problem-solver, who is open minded and uses common sense to resolve complex and challenging situations. You’re motivated by doing the right thing – and can cut through confusion to help give people the help they need in a clear and balanced way.

You’ll be able to lead, motivate and inspire a team to deliver excellent service for our customers. So you’ll need to be a great coach, passionate about developing your people – and able to drive performance. To ensure your team provides fair and timely answers you’ll also be able to identify those times when you need to step in to keep things on track.
