The Role

A unique and inspiring opportunity has arisen for an In-house Legal Counsel to join the GHD Regional team in Europe and the Middle East, as part of a global legal and risk team. The successful candidate will be in good standing with their licensing body and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience practicing as a lawyer within a law firm or in-house legal counsel.

You will support GHD professionals across a variety of disciplines to ensure consistent global application of GHD’s risk appetite and policies. This will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of key client-facing commercial contracts, including consultancy contracts in a range of contexts (such as design and construct, design only, alliancing and pure consultancy services) for GHD’s operations in Europe and the Middle East. Your duties will also include assisting in litigation management in relation to commercial disputes and receivables collection, managing professional indemnity claims, and supporting GHD’s People Team in respect of employment law matters. Candidates possessing experience within and knowledge of the engineering consultancy and construction industries will be highly regarded.

Location
Based at one of our eight UK offices with regular travel across UK/ME

• Consistent application of GHD’s risk appetite and policies, particularly in the negotiation of contracts.
• Achievement of commercially acceptable outcomes in litigation and dispute resolution taking into account both GHD’s short term and long term objectives.
• Effective contribution to the leadership team in Europe and the Middle East in pursuit of its commercial objectives
• Effective contribution to the global legal and risk team in pursuit of its development of risk management strategies
