Our client is a global law firm, with an established in-house team acting on compliance, risk and conflicts matters, that team being Yorkshire based. They are looking to appoint an additional lawyer, and whilst ideally that would be someone with previous experience in conflicts management and resolution in a large commercial firm, they are prepared to mould a junior candidate who is coming from a good firm brand and who has decent academics.

An interest in and understanding of legal and ethical frameworks (including professional rules) would be useful, and the confidence to communicate to lawyers and managers within the business is essential. A legal background in commercial work (non-contentious but possibly contentious) with a good brand would be an appropriate starting point from which to develop your more specific skills, and this firm has the resources and tolerance to be able to nurture the right lawyer into this new career direction.

As regards longer term trajectory the whole compliance and risk arena is obviously a hot topic for law firms and professional services in general, as well as within FTSE companies and blue chip organisations, so you'd be moving into an evolving but busy sector.
