Crown Counsel - Safeguarding And Civil Litigation
Two year (renewable) contract
Starting salary between £39,032 and £52,795 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience, plus eligibility for a 25% gratuity upon satisfactory completion of contract.

The Job
The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) is seeking a Crown Counsel to join its Law and Regulation Department. This role offers a great opportunity to work as part of a small team across wide ranging areas of law in a unique British overseas territory. You will work closely with all departments across FIG and represent the Government in proceedings as Counsel on behalf of the Crown as necessary.

The Candidate
You must be a solicitor or barrister in a commonwealth country or in the Republic of Ireland with at least three years post qualification experience in the field of family and safeguarding vulnerable persons litigation and have experience in civil work. In addition you will also have the ability to interpret and apply legislation and precedent, have excellent legal research skills and possess an ability to self-teach in new areas of law. You must also be prepared to quickly acquire a good working knowledge of the law of the Falkland Islands and be open minded in approaching new challenges.
