Hours: 37
Worksite: Moorfoot
Contract: Temporary for 12 months

We aspire to be the best we can be – as individuals and communities, as a Council and as a city and we won’t let obstacles stand in our way.  To that end Legal and Governance is expanding and is seeking passionate, creative-thinking Lawyers that want to make a difference to join our team.

In return you can expect a rewarding career in the UK’s greenest city within an organisation that recognises the importance of work/life balance and that offers a range of attractive benefits and a friendly and supportive work environment.

Sheffield City Council Legal and Governance is expanding and is seeking passionate, creative-thinking Lawyers that want to make a difference to join our Civil Litigation team.

We are looking for versatile Lawyers with a “can do” approach to carry a varied and interesting civil litigation caseload including advising on Anti-social behaviour and tenancy management, non-domestic business rates, housing disrepair, debt recovery, judicial reviews and general litigation. You must have both good technical knowledge (ideally in a Local Government context) and commercial awareness. However aptitude for the role is more important than experience.

The post holders must be organised and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision while still being valuable team players. Applicants must also have excellent communication skills enabling them to build strong relationships with clients. Posts are open to qualified Solicitors, Barristers and Fellows of CILEX that are able to meet the specific requirements of the roles.

Should you require further information or wish to discuss suitability on an informal basis please contact Paul Singh on 0114 205 3550.

This is a politically restricted post according to the terms of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

We are committed to fairness and social justice and welcome applications from everyone. We value our diverse workforce and aim to work together to make the most of our differences. Under the Two Ticks Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.

Please note that we do not accept CVs. For further information and details about how to apply for this vacancy please visit www.sheffield.gov.uk or e-mail hrconnectsheffield@capita.co.uk to request an application pack.
