Education Lawyer

A short term 1 month opportunity for an Education Solicitor has arisen in a well established Local Authority in the West Midlands. The successful applicant must be an experienced Solicitor with a strong background in local government. Both Barristers and Legal Executives will also be considered for this post.

You will be responsible for advising the Local Authority on specific School Appeal matters, as such some of your main duties will include:

• Advising on a wide variety of matters such as admissions and admission appeals to the LEA, faith, foundation and independent schools, including advising on the school appeals and school exclusions
• Advising on independent schools admissions, appeals and exclusions panel
• Advising on the revision of catchment areas, oversubscription criteria, and school transport
• Litigating on behalf of the council including in respect of Judicial Review challenges and representing the council in the Magistrates & County Courts
