Role description 

We are seeking a talented lawyer to join the Pfizer UK legal team. The ideal candidate will be at the 2-4 years PQE level although applicants outside this level may be considered. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice on a range of matters in support of Pfizer’s UK business with a focus on the sale and marketing of our medicines. The Legal team is a vital part of the Pfizer UK business and our lawyers are expected to help find solutions with a collaborative and creative mindset, and use sound judgement to help advance Pfizer’s UK business and the patients it serves in compliance with the law. The position will be based in Surrey and will report to either the UK Legal Director or other senior member of the team. 

Location: Walton Oaks, Surrey 

Responsibilities 

  • Legal Advice, Drafting and Negotiation: Provide strategic, results-oriented, legal advice to, and draft/review/negotiate agreements in support of, the UK business in order to protect Pfizer’s vital interests 
  • Education and Guidance: You will educate and inform business partners at various levels of the organisation about relevant legal issues on initiatives that influence all aspects of the business 
  • Coaching and Advice: Provide presentations, advice and guidance to colleagues on specific areas of interest or specialism to ensure that knowledge is shared within the team 
  • Professional Development: Develop, maintain and update knowledge, skills and professional expertise 
  • People Development: Support and encourage the personal development of support colleagues to ensure that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to effectively support the team 

Qualifications 

  • Qualified lawyer from a common law jurisdiction 
  • Good knowledge of English law and relevant European legislation 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • An adept commercial lawyer who is able to work in a fast paced environment with limited direction, be flexible, balance priorities, and manage several matters at once 
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical or other regulated industry gained in-house or in private practice 
  • Drive for results and commitment to professional development and career progression 
  • Able to communicate effectively with a variety of colleagues at differing levels of seniority
