Astons have an excellent opportunity for an Immigration Solicitor / Supervisor to work with a highly professional, driven and diverse immigration team, dealing with both private and corporate clients.
Based in the London office, the immigration team consists of senior advisors and caseworkers that hold OISC Level 1, 2 and 3 with Supervisor status, supported by an immigration assistant and immigration coordinator. We have specialist Chinese, Japanese and Russian departments.
The firm has over 20 years of combined experience in immigration and nationality law. The exclusive focus on immigration means you will practice in an exciting, ever-changing and challenging environment with people who are passionate about immigration. The firm assists corporates and individuals in relation to all types of immigration law cases. Due to continuous growth we are seeking an experienced Immigration Solicitor not only with sufficient supervisory experience to manage the team but with a keen business acumen to run the immigration department.
Role objective:
The post is ideal for an experienced immigration solicitor supervisor seeking a new challenge within a dynamic and rapidly growing company that has built a reputation for providing exceptional immigration advice and services. As the first point of contact for the department you will report to the senior Directors on a regular basis and your responsibilities will be as follows:
Key responsibilities:
Supervise the provision of advice, casework and representation to clients
Meet potential clients for initial consultations
Stay up-to-date with the latest relevant legislation and policy changes
Comply and deliver within set deadlines
Manage your own caseload as well as have the ability to build a client base and develop the department
Day to day management and supervision of the immigration team in order to ensure they maintain a high standard of service; maintain practice standards; resolve any compliance matters; meet expected billing targets
Comply with standards and requirements set by Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC); and any practice standards for operational efficiencies and client services
Knowledge and Skills:
It is essential you possess 3 + year PQE experience of managing a caseload made up of both private non-points based and business immigration/points based matters
Knowledge and experience of all aspects of Tier 2 is essential (licence applications; in country and entry clearance applications; compliance; hands on experience of using Sponsor Management System)
Knowledge and experience of Tier 1 is essential (entrepreneur and investor)
Knowledge of Tier 4, Appendix FM, nationality and EU applications (would be highly desirable)
Previous experience of managing and supervising a small team of fee-earners
Client following preferred but not essential
Evidence of past commitment and interest in the growth of a firm
Multilingual preferred but not essential
Good legal writing and drafting skills / IT And Microsoft Office literate]Ability to remain efficient and productive under pressure
Ability to remain flexible to work outside of normal working hours as may be required from time to time
Willing to attend courses on relevant legislation and keep up to date on changes in the law
