Solicitor with Childcare experience required to join a local authority in the Herefordshire area.


Your new company
Hays are currently working in partnership with a well-established, modern local authority which puts huge emphasis on development and improvement of their services. The organisation is currently undergoing fundamental operational changes. Due to their constant expansion and improvement, an excellent role has arisen for a Children's Solicitor on a full-time, permanent basis.

Your new role
You will act as a specialist legal adviser to the Children's Well-being Directorate (CWB) and you will be responsible for managing your own caseload and case proceedings. You will be expected to draft complex legal documents, compile statistical reports, as well as undertake litigation and advocacy in the courts and tribunals. You'll keep up-to-date with the newest developments in law, train your colleagues and ensure the constant improvement of customer service. Lastly, you will attend Committee meetings, liaise with external legal advisers and provide your expertise to other departments, officers and members as directed.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you will be a UK qualified Children's Solicitor or Barrister with good working knowledge of local authority procedures. You'll have at least three years post qualifying experience, and be able to draft relevant legal documents. You will also have proven experience as an advocate in the Family Courts and childcare litigation.
