Paralegal – Housing, Development & Regeneration – Birmingham

An international law firm home to one of the UK's largest real estate practices are keen to appoint a Paralegal in their housing, development & regeneration team in Birmingham.

Main Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the role is to assist the land acquisition team in conducting legal due diligence, to run some smaller individual matters (such as infrastructure documentation), and to deal with registration and post completion formalities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Working as part of the Housing Development and Regeneration Team your responsibilities will include:

• investigating and reporting on title;
• carrying out due diligence, including searches, and reporting on the results;
• preparing draft legal reports on due diligence and, in some cases, reporting on purchase or sale documentation;
• dealing with infrastructure agreements and straightforward contracts and transfers (such as affordable housing sales and transfers of public open space, electricity substations and similar facilities), with some client contact as appropriate, and running some individual matters;
• drafting documents, preparing Land Registry applications and SDLT returns and dealing with post completion formalities;

You will be working very closely with the Partner, Director and Associate within the team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• sound technical / theoretical land law knowledge, and the ability to apply this practically;
• experience of using a case-management system;
• experience of working in a legal or other business environment;
• experience of dealing with clients either on their own initiative or as part of a team; and
• undertaken and, ideally, completed the Legal Practice Course.
