Principal Legal Officer – INFORMATION GOVERNANCE

GRADE 8                £26822-£30153

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Principal Legal Officer to support our clients in their compliance with Information Law (including Data Protection law and Freedom of Information Act 2000). The Commercial and Information Governance Team provides advice to the County Council, Districts Councils and to other external public bodies who engage our services.

The main areas of responsibility will be to advise clients on all aspects of Information Law, e.g. responding to statutory information requests, reviewing information sharing arrangements with public sector partners and information sharing for the delivery of services through third parties.

The candidate will ideally have a significant level of knowledge and a detailed understanding of Information Law including the regulatory process surrounding this area of law. Specific local government experience is not essential but the candidate must have experience of working in this area of law within the public sector. The candidate will also need to demonstrate good literacy and IT skills, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the specific ability to draft legal advice, letters and reports in clear and in plain English and an ability to work as part of an existing team.
