Civil Litigator – Debt recovery for Adult Social Care

We are seeking an ambitious and dedicated lawyer to join our award winning legal team within Brighton and Hove City Council.

You will be the lead lawyer working with colleagues in Adult Social Care and Finance to recover debts due for care and residential services under legislation including the Care Act 2014. You will be part of the Housing & Litigation Team within Legal Services.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to independently manage a demanding case load of litigation, and prioritise according to risk. You will need a sound knowledge of debt recovery and civil litigation. An understanding of adult social care recovery of charges legislation including the Care Act 2014 would be an advantage. You will be responsible for providing advice and guidance at all stages of the process. This is a vital role in a developing area of law.

Excellent client care and communication skills are essential.

The salary grade at which candidates will be appointed will be based on skills/experience. This is a part time role of three days (22 hours) per week. Flexible working is available.

The legal services of Brighton and Hove work are part of Orbis Public Law, working in partnership with the legal services of East Sussex County Council, West Sussex County Council, and Surrey County Council.
