The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports  residence, Walmer Castle. As well as the coastline, the District has wonderful countryside, lush valleys and beautiful parks and gardens.Dover District Council’s Legal Services have an exciting and interesting vacancy for a role which is key to delivery of the Council’s  regeneration  agenda and other corporate priorities.

We are looking for a positive and driven lawyer who, as well as having a proven track record in dealing with major regeneration projects and commercial property dual you’ll be part of a successful team delivering a range of professional legal services to the Council.

You should be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience of dealing with regeneration, procurement and commercial property related matters. You should also have experience of advising all levels of management, negotiating with development partners and drafting complex agreements, ideally in a local government context.

You will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEX. You will also be a  confident communicator with good inter-personal and leadership skills. Excellent IT skills are an essential part of the role as the legal service uses a computerised case management system.

The right candidate will need to demonstrate that they can manage a significant case load and that they are able to analyse and evaluate information enabling them to create solutions to complex and strategic problems.
