CORPORATE to c£70K - BOUTIQUE FIRM (flexible working)

Our client is an innovative and entrepreneurial commercial firm in Leeds, with a good amount of market momentum and work flowing in Corporate Law which they need an experienced lawyer to come aboard and manage. Expertise and attitude is more important right now than any 'added value', though candidates of a higher level can be entertained if they do have some work and clients to bring on day one.

Part-time, remote working and employee flexibility are all core to this firms proposition, backed up by 30 days holiday as standard, and a bonus-culture to ensure all staff benefit from the businesses success.

If a candidate is not Leeds based but could attend the office several days a week then they'd definitely be considered. Whilst there is flexibility this is not a 'virtual firm' or a loose association of self-employed consultants, rather this is a cohesive business with shared clients and a collective effort to service their needs and so anyone who joins will be a proper employee with guaranteed remuneration.

They are competing for clients with other longer established commercial brands, but their proposition is a different one in that they are taking a more transparent approach to their offering, being more creative with fees and retainers, and also offering value to clients in other core areas of their business not just legal advice. The client base seems to be taking to this approach, and for the employees in the firm it means that their professional development in future is able to follow more than one trajectory, including greater exposure into aspects of HR or Finance for the clients, which is a unique proposition in the legal profession which traditionally sets firm parameters around a lawyer's remit. For anyone wanting greater business awareness and to be a more broad ranging business advisor then this role should be of appeal.

The firm is still in a relatively embryonic stage so there is plenty of scope here for a new arrival into the team to shape the direction of their services, and to enjoy maximum internal and external visibility right from the off. The existing client base is broad and across a range of sectors, and any initiatives or leanings you might have that you wish to pursue will be encouraged - this firm are not the type to say "no" before they've entertained a suggestion, and that permeates the whole business.

Ultimately this firm will encourage you to back yourself, to believe in your own abilities, to overcome any fears and to be confident in the relationships you have built with your clients. So many lawyers fear that if they move brand then all of a sudden clients won't want to work with them any more, but this firm believes it is about people, and that if you've delivered to clients and communicated well then there is every reason to expect them to be receptive to continuing that relationship in the future because that relationship works.

Lawyers wanting comfort and a set way of doing things wont be right for this. However, lawyers who believe that legal services can be presented to the market in different ways, and who think that a bit of innovation is no bad thing will be well suited to this opportunity.

Given that you'll be expected to take a lead in Corporate Law (Commercial is typically handled by separate colleagues) then it is unlikely that any candidate with less than 6yrsPQE would have the technical competency and confidence to manage the work, but applicants will be considered on their merits.

An exciting and sizeable opportunity with a compact but growing brand. Central Leeds based.
Florit Brooke advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
