Assistant Solicitor – Consumer Law and Product Safety
Ref: AS/PL/GM/SEP17

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Assistant Solicitor (PQE 4-5 years), within our Consumer Law and Product Safety Department. The successful applicant will be involved in investigating and pursuing litigation and undertaking research and business development work. Much of the work will involve group litigation claims against large companies in the areas of consumer law and product liability.  Specifically, the work will involve representing clinical trial participants and (non- prosthetic hip related) product liability.

Over the last 20 years we’ve developed to become the largest and, we like to think, the best specialist Product Liability team representing consumers in the UK, winning landmark cases for individuals and groups. We act exclusively for claimants who've been injured or treated unlawfully by others. Chambers and Partners ranks us as Band 1 and Legal 500, describes the Product Liability team as: ‘’Leigh Day’s breadth of leading cases, client volume, and strength in depth give it the edge over nearest rivals. ‘The team ‘exudes confidence without a hint of arrogance’, gets the ‘balance between ‘diehard’ fighting spirit and pragmatism bang-on every time’’ in this highly, specialised area. If you want to learn more about Leigh Day’s Consumer Law and Product Safety Team please visit Product Liability - Defective Products

To be considered candidates must be able to demonstrate solid qualified legal experience in Personal Injury and / or Clinical Negligence. Given the complexity of caseload it would ideally suit lawyers with up to 5 years of relevant post qualification experience. To be successful applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to learn quickly new areas of law and develop new areas of work. Experience in or knowledge of consumer law, defective products, group claims/class actions would be highly advantageous. It is not necessary for the applicant to have a background acting for claimants; however s/he should be able to demonstrate a genuine interest to work for a leading UK claimant law firm and a passion to be a claimant lawyer.
