Location: Chichester with flexibility to work in other parts of the County such as Horsham or Worthing or from home

The opportunity

Are you a qualified solicitor or barrister looking to make a difference? Come and join our fast paced, dynamic Child Care and Advocacy legal team!

Your primary focus will be to provide clear and balanced advice to Children’s Services in relation to various child protection matters. You will run a mixed case load of care proceedings, pre proceedings, private law and miscellaneous matters such as designation of authority, secure accommodation etc. You will undertake a level of advocacy to include case management hearings in respect of your own cases as well as other appropriate hearings. You will also attend meetings before proceedings which are held around the county at Children’s Services’ offices.

You will undertake technical and complex research which requires developed interpretation and analysis skills as well as partnership working with both colleagues and clients in order to deliver a solution to a range of issues. You will be engaged in often complex and interesting work within an experienced, supportive team which develops and values its staff.

Development:

The WSCC Career Progression Scheme allows fee earners to progress depending on qualifications and relevant experience. Solicitors will be expected to complete any formal post qualification training and examination required by the Law Society. Progression through the grade will be achieved by successful performance of specific and general work areas set out in the Development Programme.
