The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are keen to talk to lawyers, monitoring trustees, accountants or other financial professionals with expertise in interim measures and merger remedies to take on a new role within the Remedies, Business and Financial Analysis (RBFA) Group.

RBFA is the CMA’s centre of excellence for all aspects of remedies work and for providing commercial and financial expertise across the spectrum of the CMA’s casework, including market and mergers cases, competition and consumer enforcement and regulatory reviews.

This role will focus exclusively on mergers, specifically gathering relevant information across a broad range of commercial areas and carrying out high quality and timely analysis to advise on interim measures where competition concerns arise. As part of this, the role will involve leading on our interactions with monitoring trustees which we have put in place to oversee the merger parties. This will involve clear communication of reasoning and conclusions, including presentations and written reports.

RBFA is comprised of a diverse range of professional backgrounds, including lawyers, economists, policy makers and qualified accountants, from both public and commercial sectors. Essential to this role will be your significant experience of interim measures, merger remedies or similar relevant experience. Other relevant experience may include working closely with monitoring trustees; restructuring or corporate finance; understanding business models in different industries; or generating insights from complex information and evidencing numeracy.
