About us
We’re the independent regulator of the UK’s 690,000 registered nurses, midwives and nursing associates. We set the qualifications students must achieve to step into their first job with the right skills and knowledge to look after patients, mothers, and the public with kindness, skill, respect and compassion.

Better and safer care for people is at the heart of what we do, supporting nurses, midwives and nursing associates across the UK to strive for the highest standards

By promoting professionalism, we help to inspire confidence among the public and pride among nurses, midwives and nursing associates. Held in high regard, they are able to act as leaders in their communities.

About the role
Our team of lawyers prides itself on its collegiate and supportive environment.  Lawyers are supported by three senior lawyers and a head who are all advocates, providing technical supervision and assistance with professional development.

Our lawyers review and prepare fitness to practise cases as well as conducting advocacy in substantive and non-substantive hearings before our practice committees. For advocates with higher rights (which are desirable but not essential) there is the opportunity to appear in proceedings before the County Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Lawyers are also required to conduct litigation, where permitted to do so by their regulatory body.

About you
Excellent advocacy skills are essential. Experience of regulatory law (particularly healthcare regulation) will be an advantage.

These posts are based in our London office, but lawyers are expected to travel within the UK (typically Belfast, Cardiff and Edinburgh) to attend hearings as required.
