Job Details

The opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and highly skilled lawyer to join our team of dedicated professionals in our head office in the centre of Leicester to run a varied caseload of litigated and non-litigated Employment Law matters. The team undertakes a broad range of employment related work, both contentious and non-contentious.

With a passion for blending your technical expertise with your outstanding communication and client care skills, you will take pride in delivering a first-class service to our internal teams. You will work collaboratively with our HR colleagues and use your confidence and ability to take appropriate daily decisions on cases to ensure swift progression. To ensure you thrive in the role, we will provide you with structured supervision and training as well as a nurturing environment, where you can grow and shape your career.

The role

This is an excellent opportunity for an Employment Law Lawyer who has at least 2 years’ experience conducting and managing Employment Law cases. As an admitted solicitor, barrister or legal executive, you will be responsible for  undertaking Employment Tribunal claims including, according to experience, complex litigation. You will therefore have excellent knowledge of Employment Tribunal rules of procedure as well as the litigation process. The role requires excellent prioritisation and time management skills as well as a meticulous attention to detail to enable you to construct clear and effective arguments, yielding the best result for the council. You will need to show empathy and understanding, providing a professional legal service with a personal touch.

To apply

Please complete our online application form referring to the attached person specification for all the job requirements and ensure you tell us about your experience and knowledge, where this is being measured by application form.

Should you wish to attach your CV, please also ensure that this is tailored to reflect the job requirements which will give you the best possible chance of being shortlisted.

For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Julia Slipper – Principal Lawyer email:Julia.Slipper@leicester.gov.uk or telephone: 0116 454 6855.
